Britons should think carefully before trying to find a mortgage in Spain, an expert claims.
When looking to find a mortgage in the country, UK residents should analyse what experience and lifestyle they are looking for before selecting a location, warns Ailse McFarlane, the managing director of Spanish Living.
Some areas offer a number of job opportunities for English-speakers, while some offer a more relaxed, rural existence, she asserts.
"[People should] weigh up wanting to live in rural [areas] … and integrating with the Spanish way of life versus the very few career opportunities in those sorts of areas," Ms McFarlane explains.
She adds that the south of Spain is an excellent location to find a mortgage for individuals looking to develop their career, due to the high number of jobs for English-speaking people.
However, the expert also claimed that many Britons are looking to find a mortgage in the north, despite the cooler climate, as it offers "better value for money ".
