'Mortgages Plc Expansion'
Mortgages Plc is a subsidiary of financial giant Merrill Lynch, and functions as a lender in the UK. The company has recently announced a restructuring and expansion of their sales team .
The sales team of the company now comprises 55 different members who are based regionally around the UK and in the Glasgow office in Scotland . The lender is also undertaking a major recruitment drive.
Pete Thomson, an executive working for the company, has been promoted to Sales Director. He was reported as saying: 'It is no secret that Mortgages plc has ambitious plans for growth this year and our sales force is a key element in our growth strategy . We have placed a lot of importance on recruitment and believe that we will shortly have not only one of the largest but also the most professional sales forces in the intermediary mortgage market. Our research has confirmed that, although intermediaries are embracing new developments in online trading, they still value highly the ability to speak to a professional sales manager who can get things done.'
Mortgages Plc. are expanding at a complex time in the UK mortgage market . Tracker mortgages are replacing fixed-rate deals as the most competitive products around. Furthermore, 'lifetime' loans are becoming cheaper than discounted mortgages that are commonly remortgaged every two or three years. How this will affect lenders such as Mortgages Plc remains to be seen.
